Finding Your People: Wyldwolf Games Builds Community at 9th Street Center
Wyldwolf Games is more than a place to shop for tabletop games. The company combines gaming retail with professional Game Master services, creating immersive storytelling experiences for players of all experience levels. From Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder to other tabletop roleplaying games, Wyldwolf is all about bringing people together through shared adventures, creativity and community.
Hillcrest spoke with Chase McAlister, CEO of Wyldwolf Games, about why his business thrives at 9th Street Center.
Why 9th Street Center?
It felt like a natural fit. We wanted to be in Northeast Minneapolis, and 9th Street Center offers a thoughtfully curated mix of businesses and welcoming neighbors. Its central location is easy to reach from across the Twin Cities, which supports our goal of growing the gaming community and bringing people together.
What do you like about 9th Street Center?
I like the mix of businesses and the sense of community here. There are so many interesting things happening at 9th Street Center, and it feels like a place where businesses can complement one another. We're excited to be part of that environment, collaborate with our neighbors and help make the center a destination for people throughout Minneapolis and the Twin Cities.
What is your favorite neighborhood amenity?
For us, it's the community itself. Northeast Minneapolis has a great energy, and we love being part of a neighborhood where people can discover new businesses, connect with others and find things to do. We're excited to contribute to that energy and give people another reason to spend time in the neighborhood.
What do you like about working with Hillcrest?
It's been a solid experience from day one. This is our fourth location, and the process with Hillcrest was incredibly smooth. Communication was great, everything moved quickly, and we went from an initial visit to having a deal done in five days, with all the details wrapped up over the following few weeks. We felt wanted, and it was clear Hillcrest understood what we could bring to the community. That made a real difference.
What do you like most about your space?
The space spoke to us right away. We loved the floors, the exposed brick and wood, and the character of the building. It felt like a modern dungeon in the best possible way, which fits our brand and the storytelling experience we want to create. We've designed custom, sound-resistant game rooms with custom gaming tables and integrated technology to make every game as immersive as possible. Cameras built into the rooms allow players to join remotely through platforms like Roll20, connecting people around the table with players from anywhere.
But we're not just a tabletop gaming store. We want Wyldwolf to be a third space: somewhere people can stop after work, hang out, play cards or a game and meet new people. We want everyone to feel welcome, whether they're experienced role players or just curious about what we do. Through partnerships, events and collaborations with other local businesses, we're creating a place where people can find their people, make friends and build a community around the things they love.
